Lights, camera, action!

Welcome to my tiny film diary. I like my movies a little strange, and preferably pretty enough to live inside. Here are some of my favourite worlds at the moment!

♡ FILM NO. 01 witchy horror

The Craft (1996) Directed: Andrew Fleming

A still from La Belle et la Bête
witchy
★★★★★

Oh, to spend an afternoon in the world of The Craft, where the air feels heavy with secrets and every girl seems to hold a little magic of her own. There’s something so wonderfully strange about the black lace, the messy eyeliner, the whispered incantations and that unmistakable 90s witchy feeling. A little dark, a little dreamy, and utterly spellbinding.

What I love most about The Craft is how it makes the world feel just a little more mysterious. There’s magic hidden in the everyday, in whispered secrets, darkened bedrooms, and the feeling that something unseen is always at work. It’s a little eerie, a little rebellious, and beautifully wrapped in that unmistakable 90s witchy charm.

♡ my favourite thing: the black clothes, smudged eyeliner, silver jewellery, and that wonderfully moody, witchy atmosphere. I love how it makes being a little strange feel like its own kind of magic..
♡ FILM NO. 02 unsettling

The Silence of the lambs (1991) Directed: Jonathan Demme

A still from Orpheus
unsettling
★★★★★︎

The Silence of the Lambs feels like stepping into a nightmare that is far too fascinating to look away from. The quiet conversations! The cold, unsettling atmosphere! The way every glance and every word seems to hide something darker beneath the surface. It’s haunting, deeply psychological, and utterly mesmerising, the kind of film that stays with you long after the screen goes black.

But underneath all the unsettling mystery of The Silence of the Lambs, there is something rather fascinating about the human mind and the darkness it can hold. The quiet tension, the chilling conversations, and Clarice’s determination to look directly at what most people would rather turn away from. Everything feels like a dreadful little puzzle, with each piece revealing something more disturbing than the last. Unnerving and strangely hypnotic, which is probably why I find it so fascinating.

♡ my favourite thing:the quiet conversations, the lingering glances, and the feeling that every word has a hidden meaning. It’s so psychologically fascinating, and I love how the film manages to make silence feel just as frightening as anything else.
♡ FILM NO. 03 thriller

Recommendation!

Se7en (1995) Directed: David Fincher

A still from Amelie
thriller
★★★★★︎

There is something so wonderfully unsettling about Se7en. It feels like wandering through a city where the rain never quite stops, the streets hold a thousand secrets, and something dreadful is always waiting just around the corner. The dimly lit rooms, the endless grey skies, the little clues scattered everywhere. Everything feels like a nightmare you’ve somehow stumbled into by accident. Bleak and haunting and terribly human, which is probably why I find it so fascinating.

The little clues, unsettling encounters and carefully planned rituals make Se7en feel terribly alive, even in its darkest moments. Somerset and Mills move through a city that seems to be slowly rotting beneath the surface, where every discovery leads somewhere more disturbing than the last. It is bleak, deeply unsettling and strangely hypnotic, like catching a glimpse of the worst parts of humanity and being unable to look away. A little grim, a little haunting, and impossible to forget.

♡ my favourite thing: the endless rain, the gloomy streets, and the feeling that the whole world is hiding something. It’s so beautifully bleak, almost like a little nightmare you can’t stop thinking about.

And cut!

That's all for now, my movie friends. There are a million more films to watch, a million more things to write, and probably another film to fall in love with tonight.

Until next time, bisous! ♡
